On this week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, Damon and Stefan head home to Mystic Falls for the Mystic Falls Pageant, Bonnie and Enzo are back from their Paris getaway and Damon finally puts his foot down with Sybil.
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 9, “The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch” took the Salvatore brothers back home for another Mystic Falls pageant, an awkward one might I add. Boy do I miss the good old days.
Okay, it’s safe to say that Stefan is the absolute WORST right now. Ripper Stefan is doing his thing being all “Look at me, I don’t have my humanity” but this time, he’s more of a jerk and a super mean one. Like seriously dude, chillax.
His constant pressuring with Damon and forced talk in removing Elena, or the abrupt thoughts of her is getting to be too much. It’s like his only focus is to wipe away the thoughts from Damon for good.
Stefan: This place was the beginning of their vomit-inducing love story.
Stefan is speaking his mind.
Something about Damon in this episode made me feel for him a little more than usual. He carried and reserved himself so well from his usual rowdy self. Another reason to prove that Damon without his humanity is so much easier to stand than Stefan. Ugh, Stefan.
Damon just seems like he’s had enough of all of this, this lifestyle is boring him in a way where he wants out and I don’t blame him. Even if he doesn’t exactly understand why he’s getting these thoughts of Elena again, he just wants his freedom and sanity back from the annoying existence that is Sybil.
Elena will forever been wrapped around his thoughts, conscious, anything that reminds him of the good moments he used to have. Is this the only way the writers want to bring Elena in for this final season? With just mere snippets of scenes between Damon and Elena from the glimpse of Damon’s perspective?
Meanwhile, Stefan and Caroline are in the presence of each other for the first time after turning his humanity off. Just ouch at their whole situation. Caroline is heartbroken but deep down she is not about to give up. You know how Caroline is!
Although I am not a fan of the Steroline ship, it was sad to see this for her. She only wants to be happy and have a future with Stefan, but the cruelty in his words made it all the more hard for her to keep on fighting.
Speaking of Caroline, her talk with Damon was so noteworthy. It’s like she’s the number one fan of Damon and Elena’s love story. She kept trying to push Damon to keep on fighting and remembering the essence of the one true love he had.
My faves, Bonnie and Enzo are back in this episode, because hell to the yeah I missed them. I keep gushing about Benzo, I know, I know, but I can’t help it. They are truly refreshing and too sweet not to enjoy watching. Enzo’s love for Bonnie is so natural and so…epic it’s hard not to adore him even more.
But him wanting Bonnie to eventually turn into a vampire? Errr, not a good idea. Also, Bonnie would never stoop to that, but her idea in having Enzo take the cure instead blew me away.
You guys, that means she’s going to try to steal it from Elena and Damon.
Honestly, it’s about time Bonnie gets a little selfish when she’s been nothing but giving and selfless countless times for her friends throughout the series. She is literally trying to stay alive because Elena is linked to her body. (Thanks a freaking lot, Kai.)
But this, this is going to be an interesting turn of events.
What did you think of this episode of The Vampire Diaries? We’re down to the last 7 episodes now. Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
- Sybil freaking gave Damon his humanity and all the guilty that will come slapping him in the face. Oh boy.
- Matt might actually be the one saving the town from these sirens. I dig this. Not that he wasn’t useful in the past, he’s always been the faithful and helpful one to his friends. But now, it’s on another level.
- Where you at, Alaric?
The Vampire Diaries continues Fridays 8/7c only on the CW!
