The Originals Season 4 Episode 12

The Originals Preview: Voodoo Child (Season 4 Episode 12)

While Hayley deals with the fallout of her selfish decisions this season, she, the Mikaelsons, Marcel, and Vincent are trying to find a way to first, get the Hollow out of Hope’s body, and second, end the Hollow’s spirit once and for all.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 12 promises not to disappoint as the clock ticks down regarding who will be victorious in this riveting war. Hayley must deal with the repercussions of her actions now that the veil blinding her to Elijah’s own toxic decisions has finally lifted, all the while, she’s trying to find a way to save her daughter.

The Originals Preview: A Spirit Here That Won’t Be Broken (Season 4 Episode 11)

After the last The Originals episode that gave us a moment to collect ourselves, The Originals Season 4 Episode 11 promises angst, action, and maybe even death. Freya makes a power move on the Hollow by gambling with Hayley’s life. However, the Hollow, lying in wait, uses Jackson as her pawn to knock Hayley off-balance physically and psychologically. All this occurs while Rebekah and Marcel work on a plan to save Hayley from her imminent capture and/or death.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 11 alludes to a wild ride in the next episode, “A Spirit Here That Won’t Be Broken.” I knew the last 3 episodes of the season would be action-packed and fast-moving, but I honestly didn’t think we would kick it off with the immediate, attempted assassination of the Hollow. That’s a bit fast. Especially after they’ve only just partially recovered from the Hollow’s last attack. Nevertheless, the Mikaelsons are still painfully reeling from Elijah’s absence by placing their weight in this new attack to end this war once and for all.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 10

The Originals Review: Phantomesque (Season 4 Episode 10)

thaIn the latest episode of The Originals, Freya brings Hope into danger, Hayley almost dies at Elijah’s hand, Kol has an opportunity to be with Davina again, and Rebekah is here to stay. What a roller-coaster ride of an episode.

Can we have a moment of silence for the Vampire genre, please? The Originals are killing the game right now (pun intended). I don’t even know where to start. Although The Originals Season 4 Episode 10 felt like non-stop action, it focused less on plot and characterization and paid more attention to the relationships throughout the show. It was a much-needed break from the plot because things have gotten messier and messier between everyone since the show began. I’m glad we got this episode of clarification.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 10

The Originals Preview: Phantomesque (Season 4 Episode 10)

The next The Originals episode focuses on Elijah’s mental state after Hayley, Freya, and Klaus’s slightly thwarted rescue mission in the last episode, “Queen Death.” Presumably, Marcel is tending to Sofya’s recovery, now that the Hollow is out of her body, and Vincent is searching through his old journal for any information they can use to kill the newly resurrected Hollow.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 10, “Phantomesque,” will follow the Mikaelsons and Hayley on their mission to bring back Elijah in one piece. Klaus’s methods are hard to gauge just from the promotional video, but I’m sure he’ll be doing some kind of leg work while Hayley does the mental work. Freya claims the shattered pendant is why Elijah’s brain was shattered but I’d have to respectfully disagree with the eldest Mikaelson sister. Elijah’s brain was shattered the moment his mother yanked his past memories out from behind the metaphorical red door. The same red door we see Hayley walking into to find Viking Elijah waiting for her with blood on his body.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 9

The Originals Review: Queen Death (Season 4 Episode 9)

Klaus, Freya, and Hayley fight to save Elijah’s life, while also working with Vincent and Marcel to stop the Hollow’s resurrection. Blood, sweat, magic, and tears fill this entire episode, and it was one for the books.

Even though I had a couple of issues regarding Hayley’s decisions this episode, I enjoyed a large portion of it. The Originals Season 4 Episode 9, Queen Death, was an action-packed thriller that honestly had me on the edge of my seat. It’s been a long time since I’ve been so excited for every episode of a season, and I appreciate how The Originals writers have given me that excitement back. Hayley, Klaus, and Freya were hell bent on saving Elijah, while Vincent and Marcel simply wanted to end the Hollow, and this disunity led to Elijah’s soul to be continuously tortured in the pendant and the feared Hollow to finally gain her human form. What a day.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 8

The Originals Review: Voodoo in My Blood (Season 4 Episode 8)

Davina supplied Hayley and Klaus with invaluable information on the Hollow before she tried to kill the latter parent, and Marcel and Elijah scratch the surface on their broken relationship.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 8, “Voodoo in my Blood,” proved to be another great installment on this season’s fight against the Hollow. The writers never fail to amaze me in how they depict wars/battles. This episode had two twists I wasn’t expecting, Davina’s betrayal and the Hollow stabbing Elijah with lethal thorns, and I know they will heavily inform the remaining episodes of the season.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 7

The Originals Review: High Water and a Devil’s Daughter (Season 4 Episode 7)

Klaus, Hayley, Hope and Marcel had a full day of familial bonding that leads to the penultimate moment when Hope freed her older brother from bondage. During this time, Freya and Keelin made it past the awkward flirting stage when Freya finally opened up about her feelings, while Vincent and Elijah had an eventful day murdering young girls and gaining new allies.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 7, “High Water and a Devil’s Daughter,” is the best gem Season 4 has produced. Similar to “Keepers of the House,” this episode does momentous work on all ends of the spectrum: character development, expanding and building relationships, plot progression, and even a bit of action. It seems this show has found their heart this season through the Marcel, Hayley, Klaus, and Hope dynamic, and it’s doing amazing work for their story-telling. I loved every moment.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 7

The Originals Preview: High Water and a Devil’s Daughter (Season 4 Episode 7)

The next episode, High Water and the Devil’s Daughter, has Klaus, Hayley, Hope, and Marcel working on their relationships, and Freya, Vincent, and Elijah still trying to make headway on the Hollow front by making their own power moves.

Never send men to do a woman’s work, am I right, Freya? On The Originals Season 4 Episode 7, we see the oldest sister of the Mikaelson family finally take the reins in the war against the Hollow. I was wondering when Freya would step up. She was the main woman leading the brigade on the “Let’s kill Marcel” battle, but for some reason, took a break in last week’s episode, Bag of Cobras, to focus on her love life. The Originals Season 4 Episode 6

The Originals Preview: Bag of Cobras (Season 4 Episode 6)

The Originals Season 4 Episode 6 kicks off with an extravagant party in their abandoned, decrepit mansion. Olivia and Vincent try to free Marcel from the cellar and Klaus, Elijah, and Vincent work toward getting a leg up on the Hollow, while Hayley asks Freya to help unveil the mysteries of her past.

As past custom supports, the Mikaelsons are always throwing a party to sift out their enemies, make allies, and/or execute power plays. In this case, as the synopsis on TV Guide explains, the Hollow has found a new vessel to do its bidding, but no one knows who. Therefore, on The Originals Season 4 Episode 6, there will be plenty of spirits, dancing, and move-making on the part of team Mikaelsons and team Marcel. Klaus Mikaelson

The Responsibility of a Father: Klaus Mikaelson’s Rise into a Great Man

The Klaus Mikaelson The Originals’ audience sees in season 4 is drastically different than the Klaus we saw in mother-show, The Vampire Diaries. The once seemingly, irredeemable reprobate, now acts with mercy and thinks of the consequences of his decisions before he makes them.

After 3.5 seasons of character development, Klaus Mikaelson has gone from the sadistic psychopath, who forced a vampire to stab herself for hours on end because he was mad that she wouldn’t be his toy, to a contemplative father, who chose to save the life of the son who’s tried to kill him twice. That is character development. There was a time when Klaus wouldn’t have hesitated to kill someone who dared to defy him or put his family danger. Yet, in episode 5 of season 4, we saw Klaus save his daughter, family, and his son’s life in one swift decision.
