While Hayley deals with the fallout of her selfish decisions this season, she, the Mikaelsons, Marcel, and Vincent are trying to find a way to first, get the Hollow out of Hope’s body, and second, end the Hollow’s spirit once and for all.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 12 promises not to disappoint as the clock ticks down regarding who will be victorious in this riveting war. The Originals Season 4 Episode 7

The Originals Review: High Water and a Devil’s Daughter (Season 4 Episode 7)

Klaus, Hayley, Hope and Marcel had a full day of familial bonding that leads to the penultimate moment when Hope freed her older brother from bondage. During this time, Freya and Keelin made it past the awkward flirting stage when Freya finally opened up about her feelings, while Vincent and Elijah had an eventful day murdering young girls and gaining new allies.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 7, “High Water and a Devil’s Daughter,” is the best gem Season 4 has produced. Similar to “Keepers of the House,” this episode does momentous work on all ends of the spectrum: character development, expanding and building relationships, plot progression, and even a bit of action. It seems this show has found their heart this season through the Marcel, Hayley, Klaus, and Hope dynamic, and it’s doing amazing work for their story-telling. I loved every moment.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 6

The Originals Preview: Bag of Cobras (Season 4 Episode 6)

The Originals Season 4 Episode 6 kicks off with an extravagant party in their abandoned, decrepit mansion. Olivia and Vincent try to free Marcel from the cellar and Klaus, Elijah, and Vincent work toward getting a leg up on the Hollow, while Hayley asks Freya to help unveil the mysteries of her past.

As past custom supports, the Mikaelsons are always throwing a party to sift out their enemies, make allies, and/or execute power plays. In this case, as the synopsis on TV Guide explains, the Hollow has found a new vessel to do its bidding, but no one knows who. Therefore, on The Originals Season 4 Episode 6, there will be plenty of spirits, dancing, and move-making on the part of team Mikaelsons and team Marcel. Klaus Mikaelson

The Responsibility of a Father: Klaus Mikaelson’s Rise into a Great Man

The Klaus Mikaelson The Originals’ audience sees in season 4 is drastically different than the Klaus we saw in mother-show, The Vampire Diaries. The once seemingly, irredeemable reprobate, now acts with mercy and thinks of the consequences of his decisions before he makes them.

After 3.5 seasons of character development, Klaus Mikaelson has gone from the sadistic psychopath, who forced a vampire to stab herself for hours on end because he was mad that she wouldn’t be his toy, to a contemplative father, who chose to save the life of the son who’s tried to kill him twice. That is character development. There was a time when Klaus wouldn’t have hesitated to kill someone who dared to defy him or put his family danger. Yet, in episode 5 of season 4, we saw Klaus save his daughter, family, and his son’s life in one swift decision. The Originals Season 4 Episode 5

The Originals Preview: I Hear You Knocking (Season 4 Episode 5)

It’s been a long time coming, but finally, The Originals will address Marcel and Klaus’s relationship. As Season 4 Episode 4’s preview of The Originals shows, father and son will finally deal with their emotions and get down to business in addressing them.

Here’s to hoping Marcel and Klaus finally unravel their convoluted pride and misgivings to work toward fixing their broken relationship. The preview of The Originals Season 4 Episode 5, “I Hear You Knocking,” continues with the extended metaphor of house/property meant to represent more abstract emotions and relationships. The Originals Season 4 Episode 4

The Originals Review: Keepers of the House (Season 4 Episode 4)

The Originals divide and conquer, looking for ways to save Hope and the lost children of New Orleans. We got intense action, villain revelations, and motif progression all wrapped into one amazing episode.

The Originals Season 4 Episode 4 was, hands-down, one of the greatest episodes the series has ever aired. It did so much work for the plot, the threading of the show’s motif, and the relationships between our favorite characters. I must say, I was very upset when I found out this season would only be 10 episodes, but goodness, what wonders it has done for this show’s story-telling. Everything is executed so methodically and cohesively, I’m not as mad about this season being cut in half. Continue reading “The Originals Review: Keepers of the House (Season 4 Episode 4)”

The Originals Season 4 Episode 3

The Originals Review: Haunter of Ruins (Season 4 Episode 3)

As predicted, the Mikaelsons got their one day of meditation. Now it’s back to the real world with a soul sucking mystical force that is intent on having his sacrifices, including Hope, at any price.

For an episode where there wasn’t much action, a lot of premise, intent, and future narratives were established on The Originals Season 4 Episode 3. I’m not going to tip-toe around it. I cringed when Hope began to describe “bad” things Klaus would protect her from. Adjectives like “mean, selfish, and angry” sounded very pre-Hope Klaus reminiscent. Klaus’s widening eyes showed that he connected the similarities as well, and the desperate way he grabbed and held her also shows everything in him wants to stop being that way for his daughter.
