Supergirl Season 4 Episode 1

‘Supergirl’ Review: American Alien (Season 4 Episode 1)

Mercy and Otis Graves arrive in National City, causing a spike in hate crimes against aliens. Elsewhere, Kara is riding high (literally) after the events of Supergirl Season 3, and Superman being off-world is just letting her get even more time to shine.

On Supergirl Season 4 Episode 1, “American Alien,” the drama over Kara Danvers vs. Kara Zor-El seems to be gone as she’s embraced both sides of her identity and is finding a nice stride as a lead reporter for CatCo and the only Kryptonian hero on Earth. Is it too good to be true? Meanwhile, a new reporter, referred by Cat Grant, is introduced as Kara’s mentee, and Alex continues leading the DEO. Supergirl Season 4

‘Supergirl’ Season 4 Preview: Life Is Better Than Ever

When Supergirl Season 4 Episode 1 premieres, Kara is high on life. She’s embracing her identities as Supergirl and Kara Danvers, and, for once, Kara’s life is exactly how she wants it.

Here at The TV Type, we had the opportunity to watch an early screening of the Supergirl premiere episode. One thing I’ve had to tell myself, too many times to count, going into Supergirl Season 4 is to give the show a fresh start. This is the first season without the input of Andrew Kreisberg who, let’s face it, dragged the female hero down with his misogynistic and predatory behavior. Supergirl Season 3 Episode 22

Supergirl Review: Make It Reign (Season 3 Episode 22)

Stranded on Argo City, Kara, Alura, and Mon-El attempt to find a way back to Earth, or at least a way to warn their friends at the DEO that danger is coming. Meanwhile, Sam’s condition worsens.

On Supergirl Season 3 Episode 22, “Make It Reign,” the three sisters attempt to revive Reign from her dormant state as their plan to turn Earth into the next Krypton goes into effect. Elsewhere, as Reign gets stronger, Sam gets weaker, and time is almost up for Sam to make her final recovery and escape from the Worldkiller mess. Will death be her future? Supergirl Season 3 Episode 18

Supergirl Review: Shelter from the Storm (Season 3 Episode 18)

After absorbing the powers of the other Worldkillers, Reign sets her sights on Ruby to finish destroying Samantha Arias, which is the only piece holding her back from total power.

On Supergirl Season 3 Episode 18, “Shelter from the Storm,” Ruby’s life is in danger as Reign begins hunting her, while Kara still struggles to understand Lena’s point of view on this entire fiasco. Meanwhile, the Legion returns to the future… until Brainy’s calculations prove that Supergirl and her team “need” just one of the Legion members to exponentially increase their odds of defeating Reign. Why couldn’t it have been Imra? Continue reading “Supergirl Review: Shelter from the Storm (Season 3 Episode 18)”

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 17

Supergirl Review: Trinity (Season 3 Episode 17)

The Worldkillers have finally been united, and their plan to destroy Earth begins with an eclipse that threatens to lower the temperature and take away Supergirl’s powers for good.

On Supergirl Season 3 Episode 17, “Trinity,” Kara is taken aback after learning Lena was hiding such a huge secret about Sam and kryptonite from her, while Sam struggles to stay alive in the Kryptonian valley she’s been trapped in. Continue reading “Supergirl Review: Trinity (Season 3 Episode 17)”

Lena Luthor

Can Lena Luthor Ever Become a Hero on ‘Supergirl’?

Lena Luthor’s stance on morality has been the heated debate circling her character since her debut on Supergirl.

Supergirl Season 3 has already returned to this, twice, and forced Lena to entertain the idea of killing someone to protect herself (and others) and consider what she’d be willing to do to keep those around her safe. As we saw on Season 3 Episode 12, Lena ultimately decided to save Edge from her mother, rather than kill him herself or let her mother finish him off, but can Lena ever truly stay good? Continue reading “Can Lena Luthor Ever Become a Hero on ‘Supergirl’?”

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 12

Supergirl Review: For Good (Season 3 Episode 12)

Morgan Edge returns to National City to cause some trouble in Lena’s life, but an outside force nearly kills the both of them. Who could it be? Well, of course, it’s Lillian Luthor!

On (one of the most boring episodes of the season) Supergirl Season 3 Episode 12, “For Good,” Lena’s morality is once again called into question after Lillian Luthor attempts to orchestrate events to cause Lena to kill Morgan Edge. She’s definitely going to win the award for Mother of the Year, right? Continue reading “Supergirl Review: For Good (Season 3 Episode 12)”

Supergirl Season 3 Episode 10

Supergirl Review: Legion of Superheroes (Season 3 Episode 10)

After Kara’s nearly fatal battle with Reign on Christmas Eve, she’s stuck in a coma while her friends attempt to take down Reign on their own.

You know, for the writers to say “never underestimate Supergirl” as it did in the trailer, the writers sure do underestimate Supergirl. Supergirl Season 3 Episode 10 is just another insulting episode to the characters we all love as their own stories continue to be swept under the rug, dissolved, or they’re just written as clueless insects (like Lena continuously is).

Lena Luthor

‘Supergirl’: It’s Time for Lena Luthor to Know the Big Secret

How long, realistically, can Lena Luthor not know her “best friend” is the woman flying around National City with a cape?

Lena Luthor is a genius, yet she doesn’t know her best friend is Supergirl and hasn’t put together that Kara’s always absent when Supergirl is around? When are the Supergirl writers going to stop insulting Lena’s intelligence and recognize the value she could have if added to Team Supergirl? Continue reading “‘Supergirl’: It’s Time for Lena Luthor to Know the Big Secret”

How Should ‘Supergirl’ Take Advantage of Their Extended Hiatus?

Rest assured, Supergirl is not on the chopping block. There’s no way The CW is going to axe one of the highest-rated shows on the network, especially when Arrow is still breathing.

It was recently announced that Supergirl would be returning from a winter hiatus on January 15, and then would be taking another hiatus from February 5 to April 16 in 2018. What could this mean for the show? It’s most likely a showrunner issue; Andrew Kreisberg, co-showrunner of Supergirl and Executive Producer of the other DCTV series, was recently fired due to sexual misconduct in the workplace.
