‘Supergirl’ Review: American Alien (Season 4 Episode 1)

Mercy and Otis Graves arrive in National City, causing a spike in hate crimes against aliens. Elsewhere, Kara is riding high (literally) after the events of Supergirl Season 3, and Superman being off-world is just letting her get even more time to shine.

On Supergirl Season 4 Episode 1, “American Alien,” the drama over Kara Danvers vs. Kara Zor-El seems to be gone as she’s embraced both sides of her identity and is finding a nice stride as a lead reporter for CatCo and the only Kryptonian hero on Earth. Is it too good to be true? Meanwhile, a new reporter, referred by Cat Grant, is introduced as Kara’s mentee, and Alex continues leading the DEO. Supergirl Review: Both Sides Now (Season 3 Episode 13)

After discovering the human identity of the second Worldkiller, Purity, Kara and Alex are thrown into the season-long debate of whether to stop or save these people, and whether they have any control over the actions of their villainous alter-egos.

On Supergirl Season 3 Episode 13, Purity rises as Julia attempts to fight her way to the surface—as Sam has been doing since her transformation—and Kara and Alex spat over whether Julia is a false identity to mask the true nature of her existence, or whether she’s an innocent bystander in her own body. Supergirl Season 3 Episode 10

Supergirl Review: Legion of Superheroes (Season 3 Episode 10)

After Kara’s nearly fatal battle with Reign on Christmas Eve, she’s stuck in a coma while her friends attempt to take down Reign on their own.

You know, for the writers to say “never underestimate Supergirl” as it did in the trailer, the writers sure do underestimate Supergirl. Supergirl Season 3 Episode 10 is just another insulting episode to the characters we all love as their own stories continue to be swept under the rug, dissolved, or they’re just written as clueless insects (like Lena continuously is).

‘Supergirl’: How Can Season 3 Improve?

While making a huge step up from Supergirl Season 2, the third season has failed to capture viewers in the same way the series’ first did, but there’s a few simple ways the writers can return to greatness.

Supergirl Season 3 has made two miraculous decisions by introducing Sam Arias (Odette Annable) and bumping Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) up to a series regular role, but there are still a few (easily fixable) flaws to improve the rest of the season.
