The Flash Preview: Abra Kadabra (Season 3 Episode 18)

The Flash Season 3 Episode 18
The Flash (Grant Gustin) battles Abra Kadabra (guest star David Dastmalchian), a villain from Earth-19, who makes him a tempting offer – release him and Abra Kadara will reveal Savitar’s true identity.

It looks like The Flash Season 3 Episode 18, “Abra Kadabra,” will take the series back to a more serious tone after last week’s light and fun crossover. The main plot with Savitar comes back as a new villain claims to know the evil speedster’s identity and will reveal it to Barry – under the condition that he release him.

Savitar’s identity has been a mystery, but unlike previous seasons with Reverse Flash and Zoom, it hasn’t really been played up a whole lot until fairly recently. It looks though that the mystery will be one of Barry’s priorities as we edge closer to Iris’ uncertain fate, but who he could be is anyone’s guess.

I’ve had my suspicions that Savitar is actually a much older version of Wally West, one who grew mad from gaining his speed too quickly and unnaturally. There have been little hints of this throughout the season, particularly when  Savitar spoke to Wally just before the young speedster was trapped in the Speed Force.

Another possibility, though it’s a remote one, is H.R. He’s been oddly interested in Wally’s transformation to a speedster and he’s the only one to refer to Wally as Wallace, much like Savitar does. However, would The Flash really risk another version of Harrison Wells being an evil, manipulative speedster hiding in their midst as he gains their trust? The show has already used that trope twice, with the original Wells and “Jay Garrick,” I doubt they’d want to do that a third time. At this point, it could even be the real Jay Garrick since he’s currently trapped in the Speed Force for who knows how long.

Whatever the case, we may soon discover the real identity of Savitar soon, and you can be sure it will be a dramatic and twisted reveal.

The Flash Season 3 Episode 18 airs Tuesday, March 28 at 8/7c on The CW.
