Guilt, a new summer show brought to us by Freeform is on Monday nights at 9pm.
An American student, Grace Atwood becomes best friends with her roommate, Molly Ryan, who ends up murdered within their flat in London. Grace is the prime suspect, and her only alibi is from her too-drunk boyfriend, Luc, that she was on the rooftop having sex with.
Here is where it gets interesting: Grace’s footprints were found in a pool of blood belonging to Molly, so did she really kill her best friend? Personally, I believe it isn’t Grace, but on Freeform you never know who to believe.
Which brings me to the reason why I see similarities between the infamous Amanda Knox trial and the connection to Guilt. Do you? For those who aren’t familiar with Amanda Knox case, she’s an American student from Seattle, Washington, that moved to Italy to study abroad in 2009. Her roommate Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old student from London who was also in Italy to study abroad, ended up being murdered in their flat.
But as I watched the premiere, I just couldn’t take my eyes away.
As each episode progresses, we find out more and more about each character and who they really are. Grace has put a target on her back no matter what she does. Grace’s sister, Natalie, an assistant district attorney from Boston, has flown to London willing to do anything to protect her younger sister from being a martyr.
Every move Grace makes is under a microscope, she can’t walk away from this mess. She tries to take it all with a grain of salt, but she smiles too much, or kisses her boyfriend, and suddenly she isn’t mourning the loss of her friend anymore. Videos of her and Molly fighting eventually surfaced. Could it be true, could Molly really have been sleeping with someone Grace loves and trusts? Did Grace find out and in return kill her best friend? Is there really a stalker, if so what was his motive?
Who really killed Molly? Was it really the American girl who happens to be Molly’s best friend, was it the stalker we hear about in the first few episodes, was it the man Molly continuously had sex with, or is it someone we have yet to meet?
All these questions emerge as Guilt continues and more characters come into play. All eyes are on Grace, and sometimes the pressure is just too much. How would you feel if you were the center of attention for a crime you didn’t commit?
Stay tuned for more and don’t forget to watch Guilt on Monday nights at 9/8c on Freeform!
